The Detroit Lions re-signed backup RB Aveion Cason and signed free agent LB Cody Spencer on Monday, Scout.com has confirmed.

Cason has spent the past three seasons with the Lions and has mostly been used as a kickoff returner.

Spencer, a former sixth-round pick of the Tennessee Titans out of the 2004 draft, mostly saw time on special teams over the last three seasons with the New York Jets. Detroit head coach Jim Schwartz knows him from their days with Tennessee.
