Some Edo (Richardson, TX, Berkner) says he would like to make his college decision within the next week.
Edo, a 6'5 forward widely regarded as one of the best athletes in the state of Texas for the class of 2013, is down to TCU, Santa Clara, Fresno State and North Texas.
Edo says he feel like all four of those schools give him an opportunity to develop as a player.
"Every top school for me has a head coach that can develop me and help me get to the top level," Edo said. "I had all those other schools on my list USC, OSU, Virginia Tech, but they seemed like they just wanted me to deal with what I got and work with that."
Edo said that he has worked extensively on his shooting and ball-handling.
"I have been trying to work on my shot with catch and shoot from the three-point line and mid-range," Edo said. "Right now, I am feeling my shot."
TCU head coach paid Edo an in-home visit earlier in the summer, and Trent Johnson's history of developing players and sending them to the NBA is something that appeals to Edo.
"I know his history. He is talking about playing me some good minutes. He is talking about having me on the floor as a freshman. They are building up their program. Playing with Karviar Shepherd and if I commit, I know that would be a big thing," Edo said.
Edo said he knows both Karviar Shepherd and Brandon Parrish who have already committed to the Frogs in the class of 2013.
"I know Karviar Shepherd real good, and I know Brandon [Parrish] too but I haven't chilled with him," Edo explained. "I've just seen him play. We're cool and we'll talk but I haven't [hung out] with him that much."
Edo said different coaches have envisioned different roles for him, but he believes his flexibility will help him on the court.
"Sometimes they say they want to play my as a three, sometimes a four. If I stay working on my ball handling, I could be a straight three, or be the type of guy that gets the ball and can take guys off the dribble or shoot it, and if I have a guy of similar height on me, I can take them into the post," said Edo who plays AAU with the Dallas Mustangs.
Edo said he would like to make a decision within the next week or so. It will come down to what he sees on his visits.
"All the coaches I chose they call me every day and we don't even have to talk about basketball, we talk about life. It's basically how I like it on my visit. How I see them."
Sources have said that Edo is currently trying to set up his official visit to TCU.
He also talked about the other three schools on his final list.
Fresno State: "I like their campus, and I just like how they treat each other."
Santa Clara: "They treat each other like family. I like the coaches."
North Texas: "I like their head coach. He is the truth. He told me that he is going to turn his program around. You can't say that North Texas is not going to have nobody in the league because Tony Mitchell is probably going to go to the league this year."
