The 6-6, 295-pound Garrett played left tackle at Trinity Valley. I had a chance to see him play this season. He was by far the best lineman on the Trinity Valley offensive line. He was the most athletic and really moves his feet well.
He earned All-Southwest Junior College Football Conference mention this season. He was a standout at Deer Park High School before playing junior college football for the Cardinals.
He will graduate from TVCC in December, and he said he would enroll at Oklahoma State for the start of the spring semester in January. He added that he is planning on majoring in business.
"It is a great atmosphere," Garrett said. "My host was Michael Wilson, and I'd been around Evan Epstein and Parker Graham before on my unofficial visit. I also like Coach (Joe) Wickline as an offensive line coach."
Garrett becomes the 17th commitment for the Cowboys, the second time they have reached that number.
Last week, Irving High School offensive line prospect Rami Hammad de-committed from OSU and switched to Baylor. Hammad was kind of guarded in his comments leading to some speculation that after he took an unofficial visit to Baylor, that Oklahoma State may have told him to look elsewhere.
Either way, the Cowboys are back at 17 total commitments and Garrett is the fifth offensive line commitment.
"I'm not taking any other visits," Garrett said as the conversation finished.
